LM Wind Power provides customized blades with variable root diameters and lengths while ensuring a fast launch on the global market with economies of scale and competitiveness. This modular concept, combined with LM Wind Power’s unique understanding of aerodynamics and loads, has proven to increase Annual Energy Production (AEP) by up to 14 % for blades in 2.5-3.3 MW segment. These highly efficient blades expand the possibilities for power generation in wind class II-IV around the world and again prove the validity of LM Wind Power’s blade design philosophy resulting in reducing the total Cost of Energy.

    Strike the lightning away.

    Wind turbines operate in remote locations and in all kinds of rough weather conditions. To protect the turbine from lightning strikes, all LM Wind Power blades produced since 2011 feature the world-class SafeReceptor Insulated Lightning Protection System. The system is certified by GL according to IEC 61400-22(2010) and IEC 61400-24(2010).



    LM Wind Power can develop customer-specific aerodynamic and structural characteristics to accommodate the turbine specifications,including matching the properties of a customer’s existing blade – such as same or comparable blade geometry, mass and stiffness distribution,static moment, and edgewise frequency – while using our own materials.

    We received our first patent way back in 1968 for a special conveyor used to transfer live fish into a lorry. This history of innovation continues today: since beginning to develop wind turbine blades in 1978, we have patented more than 190 inventions.
