Each year we publish our Sustainability Report: an overview of how we manage the economic, environmental, and social impacts of our business – both positive and negative. The report describes our contribution to a cleaner, more sustainable planet in line with global frameworks, including the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement.
The 2016 Sustainability Report is our fourth Communication on Progress and reports on the ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact as well as the Global Reporting Initiative’s Standards, at Core level.
More than a report
Once again, we have raised the bar regarding our sustainability reporting. Reporting for us is not simply about fulfilling the reporting criteria under the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative and the United Nations Global Compact. Rather, we strive to create a document which can be directly useful as a management tool.
Ultimately, reflecting each year on our sustainability performance is about driving concrete changes in our business strategy.

Our Sustainability Report 2016 is our fourth Communication on Progress (COP). We've prepared this report in accordance with the GRI Standards' Core option, making the transition from GRI G4 to GRI's latest reporting framework. Reporting on our Sustainability performance using the GRI Standards and The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact allows us to report in a consistent and high-quality way, focused on material issues for our business and stakeholders.
Every year, we gain a better understanding of what is material to our business and what is important to our stakeholders. There is a steep learning curve to work out how we should be measuring, monitoring, managing and communicating on our material topics. This allows our business to better respond to our stakeholders' concerns. We will continue to develop our reporting to reflect the intensified focus on activities that link sustainability, innovation and profitable business.
