Meet Mohammed, Denmark’s new Engineer the Future Ambassador!

    For Mohammed Fajar, Structural Design Engineer, being an engineer at LM Wind Power is about creative freedom. He gets to work with determining blade mass and strength, in projects where innovation is the key to having light, strong blades that produce cheaper energy.

    “In my job I’m always encouraged to come up with new ideas and ways of solving engineering issues,” Mohammed said. “I really feel I’m changing the world and creating the future, a clean future.”

    Now, as an Ambassador for Engineer the Future, Mohammed will share this excitement and passion with Denmark’s next generation of engineers.

    Engineer the Future is an alliance of around 50 tech companies, educational institutions, and organizations in Denmark, including LM Wind Power, which aims to increase awareness of the benefits of becoming an engineer and encourage more youth to enter this exciting field.

    “I was really surprised when I heard that only 2.5% of Danish kids want to be an engineer when they grow up, compared to more than 15% in many other countries,” Mohammed said. “I believe there are many more future talented engineers than that in Denmark – what else can you expect from a generation that played with Legos all their childhood!”

    Reaching out to future engineers
    This summer, Engineer the Future selected Mohammed as one of six Ambassadors from different companies and locations in Denmark, and trained them on how to create effective social media posts. Once a week over the coming year, he will publish a variety of videos, photos and stories directly on the Engineer the Future Facebook and Instagram pages.

    “My goal is to give kids a realistic idea of what it is like to be an engineer, and how cool and fun is it,” he said. “Sending this message through social media and especially Facebook is a powerful way to reach the youngest generation.”

    This month, Mohammed will publish on Engineer the Future’s Facebook page on Saturdays. Check out his first video post on Facebook, to meet Mohammed.
