meet your colleagues

We are first and foremost an international cutting edge technology company. our diverse work force includes engineers, specialists, skilled operators and support professionals. Meet some of them here.

Benjamin Hornblow, Senior Engineer, Composite Mechanics

My main area of work is within composite mechanics. This involves testing specimens, analyzing results, and creating design specification documentation that is used by our Stress Engineering and Certification departments.

I am also part of the Blade King project which is funded by the Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation and  investigating the use of new fibres and new types of resins allowing more advanced blade designs and new production methods with a higher degree of automation reducing production time significantly.

The most interesting challenges for me come from our constant effort to push technology to the limit. With blades becoming longer, the demand on the materials becomes greater. We need to keep coming up with creative ways of improving material properties and the performance of subcomponents so that we can meet our customer’s needs. The most exciting projects are the ones that allow for out-of-the-box thinking and the development of new technologies because these are the projects that create paradigm shifts within industries. That’s why a project like Blade King is so much fun to work on because I know that it could have a great impact on the company’s future.

I’m very much into music and I play the banjo in a bluegrass band. We seem to practice a lot and not play to many concerts, but it’s fun and I really enjoy the constant learning process that playing instrument involves.

Ya Min, Engineer, Lead Engineer, Composite Mechanics

My daily responsibilities include maintenance of our material database, fracture mechanics calculation, update design specifications, design material tests, networking with our testing institutes. And currently I’m also involved in an important quality project.

I wanted to work for an international company with English as official language; secondly, I have always been doing research in the universities, so I would like to work for a company who has a big research group.Thirdly, I have a PhD in solid mechanics and research experiences in composite materials, which is very beneficial in this company. I think LM Wind Power is the perfect workplace for me.

To combine my theoretical background with the knowledge and experience accumulated in LM Wind Power during three decades of blade production is the most interesting challenge i have. And it’s great being in an environment with so many highly skilled people. I am learning everyday from my colleagues.

I like play various sports and work in my garden.

Sheela Kanth, Design Quality Engineer, Manager Quality Mangement System

My task is to ensure LMWP procedures are defined following process approach, aligned globally and complying with ISO 9001 and other standard requirements. I coordinate with Global Quality and functions on lacks in processes to ensure improvement to business processes.

Being a polymer engineer, the wonder material – composites, is my first love. LM Wind Power is a global company making a environmentally friendly product. I care for our environment and in this way I can contribute a bit to saving it. Also there is one more reason to join, - it was a good opportunity to move to Europe and get international experience together with my husband.

Working across varied cultures and languages is the most important challenge. We are a large organization and it crucial to train each and every one in all the aspects of the job to get a quality output. Standardizing the many procedures, inspections and systems is one of the major challenges for us working in the Quality department.

I like travelling, reading, and socialize!

You have a lot of opportunities to learn and grow having a career at LM Wind Power. Things move fast and there is a lot of freedom to express your thoughts and ideas.

Allan Riber, Director Product Development, Product Development

My primary objective is to secure execution of a portfolio of blade development projects according to LM Wind Power’s priorities. These projects help secure our profitability and leading position in the area of wind turbine blades. Further, I also contribute to R&D’s strategy and budget creation. I am very privileged to have approximately 30 people of leading specialists and project managers in my department.

I wanted to get closer to the end customers and develop directly for them. And I wanted to work for an industry leader with a strong R&D function and in-house laboratories and test facilities. I love to work with high level specialists. Finally, I think the product is big and beautiful and contributes to creating sustainable energy.

For me and my team, securing LM Wind Power’s product leadership position is a major challenge every day. We continuously strive to reach the optimal balance between daily operation and our long term strategic objectives.

I spend time with family and friends. And I enjoy reading.

Michael Lund-Laverick, Sr. Project Manager, Product Development
I am responsible for leading blade development projects from new blade concepts to hand over of serial production to the manufacturing group in the Product Development department. It is my responsibility to implement a ‘complete package’ in the regions where we produce the blades and in all relevant departments.
Before the blade can be released to production a number of gates have to be passed to ensure that the product meets all the customer demands relating to aerodynamic performance, mass, strength, expected life, time, quality and cost. The gates also ensure that we are able to produce the blade in the most cost effective, high quality and time efficient way.

I chose LM Wind Power! It is a world leading company – what more can you ask for! The wind sector is unlike any other market sector at this present time – the world needs more energy and it has to be “clean” – LM Wind Power is at the forefront of providing this. We are also very geographically diverse – typically our factories are in quite remote places, which have both drawbacks and benefits - spending Chinese new year in a city located close to Inner Mongolia is certainly an experience I will never forget!

I spend time with my family and friends and, whenever I get the chance, play golf and badminton and go to the gym.

This company is quite unlike any other I have worked for – the pace of change is incredible; if you like challenges then this is the job for you!

Get the wind behind your careerAs an international organization driven by technology we are always looking for talented specialists in fields ranging from materials technology to acoustics.

We know blades

Our first set of blades were installed in the Windmatic wind turbine in the Scotland waters near Orkney Islands during the 1970s. So far we have supplied brakes to more than 65,000 wind turbines worldwide.
