LM Production System

Efficient blade production

Customized LEAN principles ensure quality and throughput

LM Wind Power manufactures thousands of wind turbine blades each year. Our production activities are therefore based on a considerable body of experience. That experience provides the best basis for continuously improving our operations which we have systematized through the LM Production System (LMPS).

The LM Production system is the foundation for how we organize our factories, our people and our work. LMPS consists of a set of standards, processes and tools based on the principles of LEAN manufacturing. The system and methods are tailored to our needs and to continuously push the lever of performance at LM Wind Power. Reducing waste, tracking performance, and employee driven improvement form the basis for the daily operations in our plants around the world.

By continuously training our people to think and apply the LM Production System principles, we encourage them to actively participate and take ownership for our processes. Improvements in safety, quality or productivity often start on the shop floor. The LMPS framework ensures that we have systems in place to pick up, share and implement the good ideas.

The core of the LM Production system principles is respect and visible leadership. That means involving people in improvement activities and ensuring meaningful participation in a work group. It is also a matter of communicating clear performance expectations, follow up and continuously improve. The LMPS goes hand in hand with our
corporate values of trust and respect, taking ownership, work as one team, focus on customer and market and innovating for excellence.
