Efficient manufacturing
As our blades grow in size and the push towards lowering the cost of wind energy accelerates, blade manufacturing processes change and become more streamlined and efficient. LM Wind Power literally produces thousands of blades in our factories around the world every year. That gives us a solid basis for continuous implementation of new and more cost-efficient technology and processes. From the tools and machines we use to lay the glass in the moulds to how we handle and stack the blades when they leave our factories, we continuously work on improving the way we work to become better and more efficient.

Unique mould know-how
Designing moulds is one of the keys to blade production. We have accumulated unique knowledge and expertise in this field through 30 years of producing blades and designing moulds. Global teamwork across functions ensures that the moulds we develop and design are aligned with our product development and global manufacturing to ensure a focus on safety, quality and cost.

Infusion and curing control
Resin infusion and curing are two key processes in determining the quality of a blade and how long it takes to manufacture it. By running computer simulations and continuously tracking and optimizing our equipment, we ensure these processes are carried out in the best possible way.

Systematic technology transfer

Technology and know-how are transferred seamlessly between all our factories, so that we can manufacture exactly the same quality products anywhere in the world. This is a field in which LM Wind Power has exceptional experience.

Full-scale testing on all blades

All our blade types undergo both
static and dynamic testing. We can
test blades up to 80 metres long
in our own test rig.
