Ideas take off

More than 65% of the products that LM Wind Power currently markets were developed within the last 5 years. And the pace of development is increasing all the time. If we want to continue to be a front-runner within this specialist industry, we have to maintain a targeted focus on innovation. That is one of the reasons we have an R&D organisation staffed by more than 100 people, and the background for our implementation of a special Idea Management System, with users in all our in-house departments. Our objective is to generate at least 80 completely new, well-considered ideas every single year.

Patent portfolio

Ideas have to end up as results – and these results should be patented if at all possible. Registering patents is one of the ways that we can protect our key know-how, enable us to ensure that we have room to manoeuvre within the market, and protect the very basis for our business activities.
In 2009, LM Wind Power had a patent portfolio that consisted of 120 separate registered patents or patent applications, each protecting a key discovery or invention in one or more countries.
